Art with a Passion
Mallie Sykes is from a small town in the Appalachian Mountains: Dahlonega, Georgia. At fifteen she was gifted her first professional camera which ignited her passion for photography, eventually developing into her love for all aspects of art. In her third year of college she made the decision to change art from her minor to her major to fully pursue her goals and dreams.
At the University of North Georgia, she was introduced to printmaking and immediately decided to declare it as her concentration. During her studies at UNG, she developed knowledge and appreciation for various movements, mediums, and her own niche as an artist. She began to progress further into her niche when she discovered polyester-plate lithography, which combines her love for photos and color. Shortly after graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Marketing, she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida to pursue her two dreams: Art and living at the beach.
In August of 2021, she had her first solo exhibition in Tampa, Florida and has since been featured in multiple art shows throughout the Tampa Bay area. She is still living on the beach, creating, and figuring out her purpose as a creator and person.
